I've been back to work for a week after having two wonderful weeks off for the Christmas/New Years holidays. It wasn't easy returning after such an extended vacation. Christmas was great. Kristy & her family were in for a few days before Christmas. It's always such a joy to have them here. Holly got to spend some time with us too. We had a Christmas breakfast before opening gifts. Kate enjoyed giving out presents before opening hers. The Kansas bunch returned to their home in time for Santa to visit on Christmas Eve. Holly met us at church for the late Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service. That has always been such a special time for our family. When our kids were small we went to the early service, but when they got to middle school we started attending the late service and then went home at midnight and opened presents. It was a compromise for me because I grew up opening presents on Christmas morning and the kids wanted to do it on Christmas Eve. This way they got to open them before going to bed, but it was actually Christmas. Christmas Day was really quiet for us since it was just the two of us. We went to the movies to see Four Christmases. It was a funny movie about a couple who always avoided family Christmases because of split families, but ended up going to all four of their parents homes on Christmas Day. We enjoyed the movie. I didn't even cook a turkey for Christmas this year -- we were planning on fixing dinner, but the popcorn at the movies filled us up and we didn't want to have dinner.
